1. What we collect

WebCapture collects the minimum information needed to provide the service:

  • Email address — collected at checkout so we can deliver your license key and any management links you request.
  • License key and device identifiers — a license key you paste into the extension, plus a per-device identifier (random UUID generated locally) and basic device descriptors (browser name, OS) used to enforce the per-license device limit and let you revoke devices.
  • Web history — page titles and page URLs saved in local capture history so you can identify, search, and reopen captures. These values stay on your device.
  • Website content — screenshot images you choose to capture. Captures stay on your device.
  • Usage data — a local counter used to enforce the Free plan limit of 20 captures per day, kept in your browser only.
  • Purchase-funnel events — when you open pricing, start checkout, start a Pro trial, or when a Pro trial ends, a minimal event is recorded with only the event type, source, requested feature, selected plan, and timestamp. To estimate how often the same person restarts the free trial (for example by reinstalling) and to prevent abuse, each event also stores a salted, non-reversible hash derived from your IP address and coarse browser type; we do not store your raw IP address. These events do not include captured content, browsing history, or page URLs.
  • Plan and billing status — payment is processed by Stripe; we receive confirmation of plan and status only and do not store card details.

2. What we do not collect

  • We do not require an account or sign-in. There is no password, Google OAuth, or social login.
  • We do not read, scan, or transmit the content of web pages you visit. Captures are taken only when you trigger them.
  • Captures stay on your device — we do not upload, host, or share them on your behalf.
  • We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or third parties for marketing purposes.

3. How captures are stored

Captures are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage.local API. They are never sent to our servers. Export, download, copy, and share are local-only browser actions.

4. Cookies and local storage

The extension stores settings, capture history, page titles, page URLs, capture metadata, the local counter for the Free plan limit of 20 captures per day, and your license activation locally in your browser using Chrome's storage.local API. Your Pro trial status is stored using Chrome's storage.sync API, so if you have browser sync enabled it may sync across your signed-in browsers; trial status is never sent to our servers. The website uses session storage only to avoid counting the same pricing visit more than once per browser session. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used.

5. Third-party services

  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing; we receive confirmation of payment and plan status only and do not store card details.
  • Email delivery — we use a transactional email provider to send your license key and respond to support requests.

6. Data retention and deletion

License records (email, license key, device activations) are retained while a license is active or for as long as we are required to keep them for tax and audit purposes. You may request deletion of your license records at any time by contacting us; verified requests are processed within 30 days. Captures and other extension data live only on your device — uninstalling the extension removes them.

7. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

WebCapture's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use extension permissions and user data only to provide or improve WebCapture's user-facing capture, export, and license activation features. We do not use or transfer user data for personalized advertising, retargeting, or unrelated marketing.

8. Contact

For privacy questions or data deletion requests, please contact us via the support link in the footer.
